Bio

Having worked in roles from group homes to public education, Ashmore Hyndman III brings a range of experience to the Virginia College Advising Corps. Most recently, he worked as a special education teacher at Warhill High School in Williamsburg, VA, and at Colonial Heights Public Schools where he received the “Staff Member of the Nine Weeks” Award. In his previous role as a special education teacher, he supported students in the inclusive setting and managed caseloads, helping students set and achieve their postsecondary goals.
 
A proud graduate of Virginia State University, he engaged in near-peer mentoring organizations, including Upward Bound and Big Brothers, Big Sisters of America, where he was honored by the Petersburg City Public Schools alongside his fraternity brothers.
 
Outside of work, he has an occasional daring side, having skydived over the York River and taking on whitewater rafting on the James River. He resides in Williamsburg, VA with his wife and daughter.
